Developed alongside its 8-channel rackmount

big brother, the Space Heater 500 is a single

channel tube drive designed for 500 series

racks. The module begins with a 12AX7 tube

with separate Level and Drive controls. A

3-posion Heat switch enables the user to set

the plate voltage between 35, 70 or 140 volts

at the tube to vary the level of saturaon from

a lile bit of grit to over the top distoron.

An oversized transformer is employed at the

output to bring vintage character and warmth

to the signal path. Low pass and high pass lters

let you focus the eect and may be inserted

pre or post the distoron to suit. All this makes

the Space Heater 500 an extremely fun module

that delivers natural tube crunch to virtually

anything you throw at it!

The FunkDrive is a new 500 series module that

combines a powerful EQ with an overdrive circuit

to create a variety of creave textures on vocals

and instruments alike. Compable with all

standard 500 series racks, the FunkDrive starts

with a 3 band semi-parametric EQ including high

and low shelving and a fully sweepable mid-

range. An input drive, master volume and wet-dry

mix controls are then added to enable the user to

apply anything from subtle overdrive to over the

top distoron, acng like a synthesizer lter bank

when pushed to the extreme. When used with

Radial Workhorse racks, the Omniport ¼” jack

acts as an insert point, allowing users to patch in

a compressor or other analog gear.

Radial 500 series power racks are now ouied with nylon guides

that make it easy to push in and align a Radial module without fear of

misalignment or damaging the card edge connectors. The nylon guides

are mounted on the Easy-Glide™ trays inside the racks which can be

removed should a user wish to use non-standard sized modules.

All Radial 500 series racks and modules will now be shipped

with ThumbSet™ knurled thumbscrews and they will be available

separately for resale. The ThumbSet™ screws feature a perfectly sized

thumbscrew head for easy mounng without the need of a screwdriver.

However, if ever the ThumbSet™ is over-ghtened, a clever sloed head

allows a screwdriver to be used to loosen.

Scheps recently found himself in need of more rack room and turned to

Radial to add to his gear. “I nally got sick of swapping modules in and

out of the 500 series rack that I already owned and wanted a second rack.

The Radial gear is so well built and reliable that the Powerhouse seemed

an obvious choice.”

He currently employs a couple of Radial modules. “I use the

EXTCs (guitar eects interface) all the me to interface to my modular

synth and guitar pedals. Reamping and using pedals while mixing has

always been part of my work ow and with the EXTC it’s nally easy and

bullet proof.”

The Radial Tank Driver (spring reverb interface) also gets a lot

of acon: “I love spring reverb, so it’s an awesome tool to be able to use

the springs in my Hammond organ and guitar amps during the mixing

process. Because you KNOW that reverb will sound good on everything,

not just guitar.“
